Carnival panic solved by International Quadratics

Swimming Carnival without Timing System like Credit Card without PIN. Useless!

Confucius

Tomorrow is our annual carnival – when we hope to raise the majority of our club funds. We have a full program, most events are full, fingers crossed everything will go well.

4pm this afternoon we meet at the pool to set up. The timing system won’t work. Yikes! The timing system won’t work. Yes. The @@#&%%$!!! timing system won’t work!

In common with many swim clubs we use the Dolphin system from Colorado Time Systems, connected to an Infinity Start System. It’s relatively simple to set up and operate, without the major cost and infrastructure overhead of a touch pad system. Fantastic, except that 18hours ahead of our carnival is it dead, kaputt.

The local Ku-ring-gai club kindly loaned us a replacement Infinity Starter System, but it is clear that this is not the issue. Fault finding identifies the problem is with the Colorado start unit. Most probably it has been ‘fried’ by being incorrectly plugged into the wrong port on the Infinity.

4:30pm Saturday afternoon we call our supplier, International Quadratics. Despite being overseas their representative, Adam, answers our call and discusses our problem. “We’ll do whatever we can to support you”, Adam assures us. A couple of phone calls and hours later a new part has been located, installed and tested. Our carnival can progress as planned, and even better the offending port has now been blanked off with a grommet, so we shouldn’t ever have the same issue in future.

Thank you so much Adam and Robert from International Quadratics.
